Product Description

Prestressed steel strand is a twisted steel cable consisting of 2, 3, 7 or 19 high-strength steel wires, which has been stress-relieved (stabilized) and is suitable for prestressed concrete and similar purposes.
The main characteristics of prestressed steel strand are high strength and good relaxation performance, and it is relatively straight when unfolded. The common tensile strength grade is 1860 MPa, and there are strength grades such as 1720, 1770, 1960, 2000, 2160, 2230, 2360 MPa. This steel also has a high yield strength.

Prestressed steel strands are mainly used in post-tensioned and pre-tensioned concrete projects, with the largest amount used in bridge structures.
Cast-drawn steel strands are mainly used in lifting projects, and are also used in projects such as nuclear power.
19-wire large-diameter steel strands are often used for mine support anchor cables.
Unbonded prestressed steel strands are often used in building floors and some geotechnical anchor cables.
Galvanized steel strands are often used in bridge tie rods, cables and external prestressed projects. The use of epoxy-coated steel strands is similar to that of galvanized prestressed steel strands, and is suitable for projects with high durability requirements.

According to the number of steel wires in a strand, it can be divided into: 2-wire strand, 3-wire strand, 7-wire strand and 19-wire strand.
According to the surface morphology, it can be divided into: smooth strand (no coating), notched strand, die-drawn strand (compact), galvanized prestressed strand, epoxy resin coated prestressed strand, etc.
It can also be classified according to diameter, strength level, standard or raw material.
Prestressed steel strands are mainly made of cold-drawn high-carbon steel, with trace amounts of phosphide and lubricant residues on the surface.
When the strength is particularly high (such as 2300 MPa), alloy elements such as chromium need to be added, and galvanized high-strength products can increase the silicon content.
Some prestressed steel strands made of carbon steel have coating materials on the surface, such as zinc, zinc-aluminum alloy, zinc-aluminum-magnesium alloy, epoxy resin, anti-corrosion grease, polyester and high-density polyethylene sheaths.
Stainless steel can also be used to make prestressed steel strands, using high-strength duplex stainless steel.
